Our trullo home – welcome!

We live in a trullo – a conical stone house traditional to south-east Italy. It shapes how we live at home

Read Massimo’s story

It’s old This trullo was my partner Cinzia’s grandparents’ summer house. They are very clever homes, staying cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Tip: Old doesn’t have to mean unstylish! Rugs, throws and cushions can be changed in a moment.

It’s round Nearly all of nature builds round homes – it’s the strongest shape. It’s very unusual for a family to live in a trullo full time, but I’m not your typical Italian.
It’s flexible I spent years travelling the world, now my adventures happen inside our trullo and its garden. Outside space becomes doubly important with children.
It’s tough Living in the country is tiring. You have to do a lot for yourself.

Floorplan

‘When we moved in the trullo was a basic place. We’ve designed the space around a central living area and created bedrooms with curtains as room dividers. The round walls are a challenge for storage, so we’ve used free standing and modular furniture.’
