Surrounded by decking and on the edge of a Swedish forest, Maria and Göran’s compact holiday home is a relaxing base for summer adventures

Maria spent many happy childhood holidays at her grandparents’ caravan club on the Swedish coast. So it was a dream come true for her to turn her grandparents' mobile home into a compact modern summer getaway for her and her partner Göran.

The caravan club is in Sälvik, just outside Fjällbacka on the west coast of Sweden. It is right next to the beach and has its own landing stage for boats.

'Believe it or not, we have more than enough storage space for all of our clothes,' Maria says. 'At the beginning of the summer, we bring all our basic summer clothes to the caravan and leave them in set places so they’re easy to find.

'There’s a closet in the bedroom area and another one in the living room area, which is cleverly hidden behind a mirror. I have also put lots of hooks on the walls so we can hang up everything we can.

'It’s very small but we have everything we need!'
